NOISE LIMIT AT ASSEN

Posted: 13/06/2009

The Dutch noise limit problems get worse. Legislation tightened last autumn and it is a battle for any organiser now to get any track time. They use a very complicated addition of sound-generation for each activity day, week, month etc. And they use ‘drive by’ methods.

Looking at the readings on sound gathered at Anglesey, SPEED ranged from 104 – 108db. We need to improve these levels. Please make certain you have re-packed silencers, the outlet pipe wants to point downwards to limit sound transmission. Please give thought to additional silencing as it’s possible that we can obtain some Friday testing at Assen but 100db.

We have discussed with one SPEED team the installation of an additional silencer across the back of the cars to achieve this figure. More news when available.
